Junior Fixtures 6th/7th January 2007
Crigg All Blacks U12s got the new year off to a fine start with a convincing win over Selby. Conor McCabe directed matters from scrum-half on his comeback after a long injury lay-off, scoring the first try. Crigg raced into a 22-0 half-time lead, as superb teamwork saw the ball moved from one wing to the other. Eddie Medforth scored a hat-trick in a fine exhibition of wing play, with other tries coming from Jordan Bashforth, Captain Arron Cockell and fullback Joe Batchelor. Top tackler was hooker George Nuttall with an all action display, whilst Joe Turgoose and Jamie Searby put in tremendous work to ensure Crigg came away 36-4 victors.
A Crigg under 15's side depleted due to holidays gave a plucky display despite injuries. Luke Kenny returned after a six week absence due to broken fingers and was led from the field in the fourth minute with a nose badly broken and needing surgery. Scrum half Dale Powers took a dead leg in the 8th minute but bravely battled on. Vic ran in 3 early tries before Rob Hallas crossed. Billy Griffiths and Eddie Bennett went close but could not stop the flow of tries and the half closed 4-26. Confidence rose in the new players and man of the match Richard Moody ended a barnstorming run with his first try of the season. Jamie Stakes worked tirelessly after arriving home only 6 hours previously from a skiing trip. Craig Lees showed continued improvement and took the top tackler award. Rob Hallas crossed again for his second and good reward for this new team's effort. New players are welcome to join tel 07771666982.
