Yorkshire Junior Amateur Rugby League Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 November 2006 Crigglestone All Blacks Match reports |
|
Crigglestone All Blacks’ U13s got the weekend off to a fine start with a 78-0 romp at Upton. The tries flowed for Crigg with Luke Drury grabbing four. Matty Mosley crossed twice and Josh Hargreaves, Jack Wilkes, Leo Peat, Luke Fletcher, James Thornton and John Holroyd all scored one a piece. Leo Peat added nine goals, but it was a fine all round performance from top tackler and double try-scorer Nick Taylor that earned him the Man of the Match award. Crigglestone U10s took on Whinmoor with outstanding results coming away with a glorious win. The whole team was awarded a collective men of the match by their coach. With poor weather conditions both teams battled hard during the game. Chandler Nicholson, Josh Fox, Will Atkinson, William Simpson, and Lee Alderson, all put points on the board. Harrison Walker received a much deserved supporters’ player award for his two tries - his first after switching codes a few months ago. Jordan Crowther put in his usual 100%, scoring tries and tackling well to receive a Top Tackler award. Adam Hirst changed position to put in an outstanding display as hooker, receiving a most improved player award. An excellent team performance by Crigglestone U9s saw them through to a good win against Selby Warriors. An exciting first half saw seven tries swapped back and forth between the teams. In the second half Crigg upped their defensive effort, led by Robert Elsbury (Top Tackler) and Sam Tallant (Man of the Match), and this made the difference over the game as a whole. Three players scored a brace of tries: Liam Cardall (Most Improved Player), Jordon Boyce, and Theo Kirkpatrick. Another three excellent tries were scored by Henry Firth, Liam Senior, and Sam Johnson (try of the match). Crigglestone U8s continued to improve with a tight tussle against Shaw Cross. Man of the Match Kieran Proctor scored his first try for Crigg, and Niall Fitzsimons and Joe Crabtree both crossed twice each. Holly Boyce was judged most improved, whilst Steven Gibbs and Milo Kirkpatrick both shone. Any children in school year 2 or 3 who would like to join the team should contact Chris on 01924 258420 (evenings). |
