Junior Fixtures 27th/28th January 2007

CRIGGLESTONE 10 SHAW CROSS SHARKS 4

Criggs emerging under 15s turned in a super performance in extremely windy conditions making ball handling very difficult.

Both sides gave their best to break down each others defence but there was no score for 20 minutes until big prop Jordan Foster forced his way over to score in the corner. Gareth Roberts then made a break from half back and was held up just short.

Eddie Bennett caused major problems to the Sharks but was halted by a resolute defence. Eventually the dam broke and ever improving Richard Moody crossed in the corner, Dale Powers adding a fantastic conversion in what proved to be the home side's last score.

At the turn, the Sharks came out firing and put the home side under severe pressure, this resulted in their only score after 15 minutes. Craig Lees could have crossed twice for Crigg but for better passing and the final whistle was received with relief and with more players on the horizon, this team is looking for a good end of season run in.

Crigg under 8s braved the elements of winter in a close fought contest against a more experienced Wetherby side.

A try each for Niall Fitzsimmons (top tackler) and Joe Crabtree (Most improved) to add to Milo
Kirkpatricks 2 tries ensured that this was always going to be a much tighter match than in October,  when crigg went down to a heavy loss. Keiran Proctor was Man Of The match and Stephen Gibbs, Holly Boyce and Ollie Greensmith also made big in-roads in a much improved performance.

U9s vs Wetherby

Another tremendous defensive display saw the All Blacks U9s win a top quality match against Wetherby Bulldogs. Half the team put in 10 tackles or more, and the quality of the defensive effort was again of the highest standard.

Good handling skills were put into service to create three tries (Liam Senior, Theo Kirkpatrick and Jordon Boyce) even though it was again blowing a gale at the ground.

Match awards focussed on the defensive display. Liam Cardall won Most Improved Player after getting in more tackles than normal, and the tackles being well executed. For their all around defensive displays Sam Johnson won Top Tackler and Billy Greensmith was Player of the Match.
