Four tries for Luke Fletcher saw Crigglestone All Blacks' U13s put Walton to the sword 34-20. In a game played in extremely windy conditions, Crigg trailed 10-8 at half-time thanks to tries from Fletcher and Luke Drury. With the wind behind them after the break, Crigg soon took control. Fletcher added three more, with Alex Patterson and Andy Moody also crossing the line. Martin Robinson added three conversions. Fletcher took the Neworld Bulldogs Man of the Match award, whilst Drury and Leo Peat shared the honours as top tackler.

Crigglestone All Blacks' suffered a double defeat at the hands of Hunslet Parkside. The Under 13s were unlucky to lose by a last minute try, whilst the Under 15s never gave in against much more experienced opposition. Jamie Stakes was Crigg's top tackler, whilst captain Nick Pluskota and debutant Andy Wells both epitomised the tremendous spirit developing amongst the Under 15s this year.
Saturday 23rd September
The Under 13s also faced Shaw Cross and fared much better at the older age group, but still went down to a late try in the second half, losing 10-16. Jack Wilkes and stand-off Tom Padgett were Crigg's try scorers. Martin Robinson got the goal. Wilkes' performance earned him the New World Bulldogs' man of the match award, whilst Mathew Mosley led the tackle count.
Saturday 16th September
A depleted Under 13s also started their league campaign at Acorn and struggled after leaking points in a slow start. Crigg got back into the game with tries from Luke Fletcher and Nick Taylor with Leo Peat adding a goal, but could not catch up. The highlight of the Under 12s trip to Ireland was a thrilling cross-code game at Malahide RUFC.
After a morning training session on the beach, the lads were given a short session by the Malahide coaches on the basics of the Union code. The match itself then began with the Malahide winning the toss and electing to play their own code for the first half.
The All Blacks struggled to gain and retain possession in the early stages of the half, and Shane Woods opened the scoring for the home team with an explosive burst. A typical Ryan Parker try converted by Leo Peat briefly edged the visitors ahead before a good drive from the Malahide forwards saw Adam DeBour reclaim the lead.
Steven Cunninghams pace threatened on a number of occasions, and was rewarded with a well taken score converted by Adam Mooney which looked like winning the half for Malahide. However, the visitors began to push the forwards wider and the home defence again found Ryan Parker unstoppable as he crashed over for his second try. Much to the delight of the travelling fans a break from Luke Fletcher then split the defence, and excellent backing up from Jacob Worrilow enabled him to touch down in the corner for his first competitive try. Leo Peat made it three out of three on the conversions to win the half 21-17.
The Malahide boys didn’t adapt as easily to League, and the All Blacks threatened to run away with the second half. Jack Wilks jinked his way over to open the second half scoring, and strong driving saw further tries from Luke Fletcher and an Andy Moody brace extend the lead to 24-0 (Leo Peat adding all the conversions for a perfect 7 out of 7 overall).
However, the home side maintained a good spirit throughout, and Reece O’Connell opened their second half account with a well earned drive over in the corner. John Holdroyd showed his pace soon after cutting inside and leaving the home defence in his wake, and Jack Wilks completed the All Blacks tally with the conversion.
The game ended in good spirit as referee Gary Walker called 4th tackle umpteen times with Malahide camped on the All Blacks line. The visitors held out well before some suspicious assistance from Ben Asquith enabled Reece O’Connell to burrow over for his second try of the half, converted by Adam Mooney. The half ended shortly afterwards with the score 30-10.
The coaching staff from both clubs were highly impressed with the spirit in which the game was played, and felt each and every player had played their part. Man of the match awards went to Ryan Parker and Jacob Worrilow from Crigglestone, and to Shane Woods from Malahide.
Sunday 23rd April The Under 12 Squad rounded off the season with an exhibition match against Shaw Cross at Belle Vue ahead of Wildcats v Harlequins. The All Blacks dominated the early exchanges with Jack Wilks and Luke Fletcher crossing the line for two well taken tries. Nick Taylor and Ryan Parker came close to extending the lead, before Shaw Cross gradually edged their way into the match and finally ran out winning by 4 scores to 2. Shaw Cross tries came from Lewis Wilson (2), Travis Neagle and Sam Whitworth. Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the days entertainment, and a small but generous crowd gave a much needed boost to the All Blacks Ireland Tour fund!! Click here for pictures from the game
Saturday 15th April Whinmoor 54 All Blacks 10
The U12s never got out of the starting blocks in their final away game of the season against League Leaders Whinmoor. The All Blacks points all came early in the second half, but they couldn’t maintain the same performance level as recent games and allowed too much space for Whinmoor to finish worthy winners at 52-10.
On the plus side Tom Martin squeezed in the corner for his first All Blacks Try, Luke Fletcher stretched over near the posts for a well deserved score and Leo Peat added the latter conversion. Nick Taylor topped the tackle count for the first time, with Joshua Hargreaves running him a close second. Man of the match, chosen by the opposition coaching staff, was Luke Fletcher who never stopped trying to drive the team forward.
Saturday 1st April West Leeds 16 All Blacks 16
The Under 12s recent good form continued with a well earned draw away at Table topping West Leeds.
Although the pitch was in shocking condition, the team put on a tremendous show, moving the ball well along the line in attack and stepping up to the mark in defence.
After a tight opening West Leeds drew the All Blacks defence into centre field before quickly switching wide and finding space to open the scoring with a try in the corner. Unlike earlier in the season the All Blacks weren’t disheartened having gone behind, and were soon on level terms. The forwards made inroads with some tremendous drives early in the tackle count, creating space which Matthew Mosley exploited to surge over from 30 yards out. Handling errors were inevitable in the conditions, and neither side were able to break down their opponents defence again as the half ended 4-4.
West Leeds started the second half on the attack, forcing the All Blacks into errors near their own line which eventually led to an unconverted try. The game was far from over though, and after a spell camped well inside the opposition half Ryan Parker took his opportunity to crash over near the posts. Leo Peat stroked over the conversion to edge the All Blacks in front.
As the game moved into the final quarter both sides began to tire, the visitors suffering most as West Leeds first crashed over in the corner, following up with a break away score to lead 16-10 with little time left.
The All Blacks refused to be beaten, and having been denied a try earlier overrunning the dead-ball line, Ryan Parker seized his opportunity on the games final play, taking several defenders with him to force his way over after some intense pressure. That just left Jack Wilkes with a tricky conversion to tie the game, which he sailed sweetly between the uprights to calm the supporters nerves.
